Dehydration Station

We just got a food dehydrator. Our house has been operating at a low hum for the past 48 hours and we've been enjoying fruit roll-ups (strawberry-banana, apple-grape, and my personal favorite -- cherry) and dried pineapple. Next to come are dehydrated full meals, like chili and pasta.

Jason is about to embark on a long hiking and camping trip along The Long Trail through Vermont. He's decided to take along a lot of dehydrated food so that he'll have variety throughout the month he's gone. It'll surely be an interesting experiment.

Not Your Garden-Variety...

... but it is my garden-variety. That's right! These beans are the first non-lettuce veggie that our garden has produced. I planted those suckers as seeds, too! We've also recently gotten some pickling cucumbers. We bought those as small plants though, so I am not half as excited as for our beans.

We're also seeing green pre-tomatos and two jalapenos, so we're pretty pleased with the results of our first garden.
