Safe Trip

Just a quick post to let you all know that we had a successful house-hunting trip, and we got back to Tallahassee safely last night. There was a lot of cold rain yesterday in the Boston area, but none of our flights were delayed. I'll be sure to send updates on the moving process as our plans are finalized.

The better to see you with, my dear!

I ordered new glasses recently, and they were finally ready for pick-up today! I'm still getting used to them, but I think they'll do. The part I am really excited about is that they have transitions lenses, so I can wear glasses on sunny days without being miserable. That's a good thing.

My new specs will come in handy this weekend as we fly to Boston to look for apartments. We leave Friday morning, and get back to Tallahassee late Sunday night. We have a lot of appointments set up so far, so we're hoping to know our new address soon! I am really excited to see these places that I've been looking at pictures of for so long. And I am excited to see Jason's reaction to the area. He's never been to the Boston area before, but I have a feeling that he'll like it a lot. We'll be sure to share the details once we get back.

Random Update

  • We are sick. Jason no doubt caught this cold from one of his generous students, and he ended up passing it along to me when he was tired of it. I am at the fun stage where I oscillate between feeling really hungry and like I really want to throw up. Good times. Hopefully we kick this soon because...
  • I was finally contacted by the relocation team, and we are hoping to go on our house-hunting trip next weekend. I have been looking for places to rent on Craigslist and compiling a geeky little Google Map summarizing my findings. It's been great fun. Hopefully our trip is successful... otherwise I will be living in temporary housing and finding a place on my own after I move.
  • I am getting overwhelmed by the thought of moving our cats. In a million years I wouldn't wish on Jason the experience of driving for over a day on I-95 with two cats in the car, but I also can't picture Jebo treated like carry-on luggage squeezed in under the seat in front of me on an airplane.
  • I am about to make some soup. Happy Valentine's Day to you all!

Relaxing Sunday

First of all, thanks to Aunt Ginny and Gram for these beautiful flowers (above)! They provided a great centerpiece for our dinner party last night. Our friends also brought along some flowers (below)... luckily they kept to the same color palette. :-)
Today has been a good day. We went to an early yoga class at the studio where our friend Stacey teaches. It was my first time doing hot yoga (it was 108 degrees in the room), and I loved it. Hopefully I will be able to find a studio to go to after we move.

This afternoon we've just been watching the Madoff-related hearings on C-SPAN and filling out job forms and applications. Fun times! Now Jason's going to play tennis while I'm heading over to my friend Lauren's place to watch Lonesome Dove. Have a great rest of the day, and I'll update ya'll later.

Hello Super Bowl Champion Steelers!

A couple of good friends came over tonight for our Super Bowl party. What a great game! Unfortunately Hazel was not impressed with The Boss... she spent the halftime show on top of the refrigerator. [We have never seen her up there before... it's either a new thing for her or something she normally does while we're out of the house. Either way, it was pretty hilarious.]
